BRASS SHILLELAGH - AMATEUR ONE-ACT PLAY AWARD

Boyle Arts Festival is now accepting original unpublished one-act plays with a maximum length of 15 minutes from amateur playwrights/directors and actors for its inaugural Brass Shillelagh Drama Award. Five winning finalists will be selected to perform on the night of Saturday 31st July during the Boyle Arts Festival.

You will be required to stage the play with your own cast. You need to have your own props. On the final night an overall winner will be selected based on the performance and the transformation from script to stage.

They will provide the audience, the Judges, advertising, prize money of €300 to the winner, €50 to the four runners up and the prestigious Brass Shillelagh itself.

Dear Nuala: This is great! Thanks for the update! I will have to read the intricacies of the offerings as there are always so many strict rules and you know it is giving me a lot of impetus to stage something here in Canada. You are very arty over there and very encouraging of the arts OPENLY. This I find to be something I'd like Canada...not enough here as far as I'm concerned. Need more creative minds coming together sort of thing. Yes! TyTyTy! tanku!

Chico - I am off to Toronto in June for a short fiction conference and I am SALIVATING at my guide book at all the cultural goodies that await me.
Ireland is a small country - every town has its own arts festival - not all of them great.
And you have Atwood and Munro and MacLeod and Alanis Morrissette and Feist and the Wainwrights and Jim Carrey and all those extraordinarily talented people!
I can't WAIT to get to Canada!
