C-DAY!

Well C-Day is here. Gone is my absolute influence over my baby daughter; here is the quiet time I need to write. 3 and a half hours, 3 mornings a week. Heaven.

How was it? Well, it was FANTASTIC! She sailed in the door of the creche and had a ball. I did not go on the internet and went straight to a story I have been itching to finish. I started it in March 2009. And I've known for ages how it would end and I got it down today. Which I can't quite believe. I've been irritated when people go on about the stuff they are writing on Facebook etc. but only because I've been so frustrated about not having time and quiet to write. Now I have it, and it feels FAB! No more sighing and moaning for me, it'll be all productivity, I hope. I feel I am off to a great start. Happy days, as the young people say.

Oh that sounds good! I'll have mine all back tomorrow, bar the long fella. We're waiting on word from UL to see if he's passed the test...

Yay, glad you had a great day! (I too tend to clench the keyboard when people post their daily word count. Mostly because mine is always so pitiful.)

I was thining last night - I wonder if t'day's the day...fantastic! Soon there will be more lovely stories for me to read!!!

When I first took my daughter to creche (so long ago now - the memory that is, I didn;t forget to pick her up!) and I was so gutted that she didn't look back for me once! I was traumatised!

Happy writing days to you!

So it's miles of smiles for you and Juno - what could be better?

I wish you happy writing.

Thanks so much, ladies.

Rachel - it's a bit of a wrench leaving them but so easy when they are happy. Juno loved the creche yesterday - she cried all the way home when I picked her up. I was the baddie for taking her away from fun!

Hi Nuala, I love this piece. By a strange co-incidence Virginia Woolf has been in my head of late. I had some how gotten to the ripe old age of 34 without having read her so I decided to start Mrs. Dalloway last weekend. What a revelation, like meeting an old friend and her advice to women writers and artists is so true. My dd headed off to Montessori this week but I have a few more years to go to total alone time, you remind me of what I have to look forward too!

Hi D
I'm re-reading A Room of One's Own just now. Loving every word, drinking it off the page. Mind you, Virginia didn't have kids so she had what she hoped for for all creative women. But, she had her own demons.
Anyway, it's a bind, being a Mom and a writer but we will muddle through, right?! N x
