KILKENNY WRITERS' WEEKEND

Kilkenny Writers' Weekend is this weekend and on Sunday afternoon I am giving a fiction class (full) and also giving a talk about The Writer and Self Promotion. There is still room on that one which takes place this Sunday, the 15th May, from 11am to 1pm in Butler House. Admission €10.

Other events include a reading from Kerry Hardie, a poetry workshop with Pat Boran and the launch of the Kilkenny Poetry Broadsheet. More at the link above.

Hi Nuala,
Not at all related to your post but I though that this piece by Carlo Gebler
might interest you if you haven't seen it.
I am sure that some of it is a tongue in cheek but he gives a very interesting view on the life of a writer, not exactly Hollywood glamour.
Ciao,
Aidan

Hi Aidan
I had posted a link to it on my Facebook page a few days ago and much discussion ensued so I didn't feel the need to post again here. I think it's a great essay - I love his honesty. Are you on Facebook?

I guess that I'm not so leading edge ;-)
I left Facebook as I found it too intrusive. I was annoyed about always having to think about the things I wanted to share there and whether they were appropriate for all of my FB Friends. Ironically for somebody who writes a blog I found it draining too because of the shorter format. Maybe I was trying too hard to produce good content and my audience didn't give me enough appreciation :-(
To share another link you may not know I've been reading a blog called the French Exit by American poet Elisa Gabbert for a good while. Very quirky and esoteric stuff she writes. Her poetry is really interesting cool too from what I have read of it.

Yes, Facebook can be an odd place. It certainly doesn't suit everyone. As for Twitter...
I'll check out that blog, thanks :)
