DUBLIN REVIEW OF BOOKS FLASH STORIES

Image from Making Space exhibition, inspired by 'The Egg Pyramid'

The winning stories in the Dublin Review of Books Flash Fiction Prize are now available to read online, including my story 'The Egg Pyramid'.

The second prize winner 'Daisy' by Percy Herbert is an uncomfortable story of playground bullying, with a good ending.

Third went to Eunice Yeates for 'May', which begins: 'My name is June. Don’t ask me if I was born in June because I wasn’t. May 21st, 1961, is when I came into this world...' In a neat coincidence my daughter Juno was born on the 21st of May (it was her due date too) and we are always being asked why she is called 'Juno' if she wasn't born in June.

Two other articles that caught my interest in this issue of the review are Tim Groenland's one on Raymond Carver and Carol Taaffe's on a new book about Anne Enright here.

There are more images from the Making Space Egg Pyramid exhibition at their website.

What a fabulous story, Nuala & easy to see why you won.
I only discovered Kahlo & Rivera this year after the exhibition in IMMA (philistine that I am)
The Egg Pyramid sums her life up so beautifully!
