EMBASSY OF IRELAND LECTURE - LISBON
I am giving the Embassy of Ireland Lecture at the University of Lisbon this Friday the 7th December at 2.30pm. I've called it 'Pathways into the Irish Short Story' and I will also read from Mother America.
It takes place in Sala D. Pedro V at Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa.
Big thanks to the joint sponsors of my visit, Denise Hanrahan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Portugal, and Teresa Casal at the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (ULICES). I'm looking froward to meeting the Ambassador, Declan O'Donovan too.
I was in Lisbon in 2006 for the International Short Story Conference (wonderful) and had an unexpected night there in August after missing a flight on my way back from Brazil. I took the above pic that time. I'm so looking forward to re-exploring the city and meeting new people.

Good for you, Nuala. Best of luck and enjoy!
Cheers, Ethel. I'm looking forward to it. I love an out-of-town gig in December. All those twinkly lights and cute Xmas trads to see.
I would love to hear your lecturer, that being impossible, I hope you will post the text
Hi Mel
