RADIO STORY - FRANCIS MAC MANUS WINNER

My short story 'The Wind Across the Grass' will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 tomorrow night, the 27th December, just after 11pm. I blogged about the story before - and winning the Francis Mac Manus Award with it ten years ago - here. It was my first big win and I still think of producer Séamus Hosey, actor Bill Golding and all connected with the award (including judges Ita Daly, James Plunkett and Jamie O'Neill) with fondness. It gave me a great boost, a dose of writerly confidence. The 2013 award closes for entries on the 21st January.

Ah yes, when I was innocent. The vipers weren't long in making themselves known after that.
