Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops
Jen Campbell compiled the fabbie Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops - sequel due in April. Recently she offered to send postcards to a bunch of people with quotes from the forthcoming More Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops and I was lucky enough to be one of the receivers. As a former bookseller I can attest to the absolute oddness of many book shop customers.
Above is the front of the postcard Jen sent. In a neat coincidence my daughter has lately become obsessed with the film The Wizard of Oz, which I got for 50 cent in a charity shop and thought she might be scared of. She watches it on a loop, calls it The Wivvard of Oz, and Toto is known as 'Total'. Bless. (She also made my Da be a Munchkin to her Dorothy when he was minding her at the weekend. Heh heh.)
Here is what Jen wrote on my Wizard of Oz postcard:
Customer: 'Hi, I'm looking for 1985.'
Bookseller: 'Do you mean 1984?'
Customer: 'No. It's definitely 1985. It was the sequel.'

Love that book - I had no idea there's going to be a sequel, so am thrilled!
Hi Hayley, yes, definitely something to look forward to!
Oh joy, a sequel - one for me, and two for birthday presents for my sisters-in-law!
Jen will be pleased that people are buying it in bulk - go Jo!
Teehee!
