NEW STINGING FLY STORY ANTHOLOGY

The publication date for the latest Stinging Fly short story anthology is September 22nd. The launch of Let’s Be Alone Together will be in Cork on the opening night of the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Festival - Wednesday, September 17th, 7pm at Triskel Arts Centre. I'm looking forward to it already.

The anthology of short fiction is edited by Declan Meade, editor and publisher of The Stinging Fly. It includes new stories from Ragnar Almqvist, Evelyn Conlon, Danny Denton, Damien Doorley, Michael J. Farrell, Mia Gallagher, D. Gleeson, Rosemary Jenkinson, James Lawless, Colm Liddy, Viv McDade, Emer Martin, Gina Moxley, Helena Nolan, Jim O’Donoghue, Dónal O’Sullivan, Breda Wall Ryan, Ingo Schulze, Tom Tierney and William Wall.

More about the rest of the festival line-up soon.

I'm very much looking forward to my review copy! Sounds great, most of those names are new to me, I love finding new writers.

Look forward to that coming out. I enjoyed 'These Are Our Lives' very much, so SF have a lot to live up to.

These names are new to me: Ragnar Almqvist, Damien Doorley, D. Gleeson, Helena Nolan, Jim O’Donoghue, Dónal O’Sullivan and Tom Tierney.

But I have a feeling that Ragnar is Eilis Ní Dhuibhne's son.

I'm always fascinated by writers who produce writers: Anita and Kiran Desai; Celia de Freine and Jack Harte and their daughter Lara Harte. Actually, I probably feel a bit jealous, imagining the writerly atmosphere, encouragement and discussions in their family homes!

Sounds great - SF always deliver the short fiction goods. I think Helena Nolan is a poet, who may have featured in SF before? Interesting to see Ingo Schulze in there - I really enjoyed the loonier aspects of 33 moments of happiness. Bring it on!
