Pat Jourdan reviewed - The Short Review

"At her best, Jourdan has something of William Trevor’s talent for capturing the most intimate instances between people and laying these out for our consideration, without garnish or expectation: a quiet telling." Sarah Hilary

Apt praise from the excellent Sarah Hilary for Pat Jourdan's short story collection Rainy Pavemnets which she has reviewed for the June 2009 issue of The Short Review.
There's a great interview with Pat about short fiction and its writing here.

Pat's a gifted visual artist as well as poet and fiction writer, and I made friends with her in Galway when she lived here. She has an extraordinary mind and her interview gives something of the sparky essence of her way of thinking. Enjoy!

I'm so glad Pat has a fan in you, WRW. I really enjoyed reading her stories. She kindly sent me another collection which I'm looking forward to reading after the house move. How's Juno? Thriving, I hope.

Hi Sarah,
Juno is great - we are blessed with her. She is not a squawker! (I've had one of them...)

Pat's an extraordianary person - multi talented and so, so clever.

One of her paintings is the cover art of my 1st story collection The Wind Across the Grass. She gave me the painting as a gift afterwards. That's the kind of woman she is. She's fab.

Juno couldn't be a squawker with a name like that. I'm so glad she's well and that you're enjoying her company. Pat is a terrific talent, and generous. I'm always envious of those with multi-talents, especially art AND literature. I can't draw for toffee.
