FISH FLASH


The Fish Flash Fiction Prize has been an annual event since 2004. Write a 300 word story and win €1000 plus publication. The comp closes on the 20th March.

Micheal Collins is the judge of the 2012 Prize. He is the acclaimed author of eight books, including novels and short stories which have been translated into seventeen languages. His work has garnered numerous awards, including Irish Novel of the Year along with being shortlisted for both The Man Booker Prize and Impac Prize.

€14!!!!??? That's like 22c a word! I know times are hard and all but COME ON.

Yes, it's a rather big ask. €10 would be so much more acceptable. They clearly hope to make the prize money back on entries.

Considering the entry fee and already having a Fish one pager shortlisting under my belt I was going to give this one a miss...but I am sorely tempted - and I have a wee story up to no good....

Worth a try if you have a story ready, maybe. But that entry fee is a killer, all right.
