MY LIFE IN SHORT FICTION

The Portable Virgin

When writing the title for this post I accidentally wrote: My Life is Short Fiction. Smile :)

Short story writer and home-dad Dan Powell interviews me today in his My Life in Short Fiction slot here. Dan is a great champion of the short story and his blog is always worth a read for up-to-the-minute reviews of recent story collections, and thoughts on the writing process etc.

Writers I name-check in the interview include Anne Enright (The Portable Virgin), Flannery O'Connor and Seán Ó Faoláin. I'm delighted to take part in Dan's Q&A which has previously featured writers I admire like Sara Crowley and Nik Perring.

And you've got to love anyone who is a home-dad as well as a writer. As a home-mom/writer, I can relate.

Lovely interview, Nuala. I very much like your 'dark pool ripple' image for short stories!

Love the virgin in your purse. She never looked so good. And yes, all our lives really are short fiction.

Cheers, Donna. I used to have an inch-high luminous virgin but she's gone awol. This is one of my other faves given to me by my 1st husband's mother. She's a little beauty :)

Thanks for reading, as always.
